The Spanish Badminton Federation, in hand with LEVERADE, will deliver NFT digital trophies at the IBERDROLA Women’s Club Cup.
Thanks to an alliance between the Spanish Badminton Federation — FESBA — and LEVERADE, NFT digital trophies, and medals will be awarded at the IBERDROLA Women’s Club Cup.
FESBA, the highest national badminton organization in Spain, is the organizer of this women’s championship that will be played from September 30 to October 2 at the Polideportivo Corredoira Arena, in the city of Oviedo, Asturias.
The Spanish Badminton Federation sets a precedent for the future of badminton through its agreement with the Spanish company LEVERADE, the technology supplier of the Federation and the one in charge of implementing the blockchain technology to make possible the delivery of these trophies and medals.
The IBERDROLA Women’s Clubs Cup
The Spanish Badminton Federation (FESBA) organizes the IBERDROLA Women’s Club Cup.
The purpose of this cup is to create an environment of competition and learning within badminton where meetings and multidisciplinary talks of women linked to the sport serve to encourage the development of women at all levels of society.
More than 90 players from 12 different clubs will participate in the IBERDROLA Women’s Club Cup: Club Bádminton Rinconada, Club Bádminton Soria, Associació Granollers Esportiva, Recreativo Ies La Orden, Club Bádminton Huesca, Club Bádminton Alicante, Club Athlos, Club Bádminton As Neves,
Badminton Astures, Club Bádminton San Fernando Valencia, Club Bádminton Ravachol Pontevedra and Club Bádminton Oviedo.
How are the digital trophies awarded by the FESBA?
FESBA is joining other federations that have already chosen digital trophies in NFT format to award athletes in their competitions.
An NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is a digital certificate of authenticity that, thanks to blockchain technology (the technology that makes cryptocurrencies possible), is associated with a single digital file (an image, video, audio, text, or compressed file) with a unique value.
NFTs have the particularity that they cannot be replicated under any circumstances, and each of them can be traced in a completely transparent way to verify when it was created and by whom.
NFTs offers the possibility of ensuring the digital ownership of a product or service in a private, transparent, and secure manner.
The delivery of digital trophies NFT is a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to the use of physical trophies (with the consumption of raw materials that entails).
Trophies in NFT format are also a great attraction to capture the attention of the public, encourage engagement and interaction in social networks and attract media attention.
These pieces are unique and unrepeatable and have a certificate of authenticity engraved on the blockchain.

Our team has been inspired by these two pillars to design the IBERDROLA Women’s Club Cup trophy.
First, we sought to deconstruct the steering wheel to its most basic geometric shapes. Then, we added some translucent materiality that shows how the different colors coexist perfectly”.
The agreement reached between FESBA and LEVERADE s an important step in order to demonstrate the utilities that blockchain technology has to offer to the entire sport (both federations and athletes), managing to amplify the impact of each award that is delivered.
