NEW AGREEMENT: LEVERADE will deliver Digital Trophies for FPN in their official competitions.
The Portuguese Swimming Federation (FPN), will deliver NFT trophies and medals in their official competitions, thanks to an agreement signed with LEVERADE.
The Portuguese Swimming Federation is the national sports federation in charge of the development, promotion, and international representation of swimming in Portugal.
The federation also covers other sports, such as competitive swimming, open water swimming, water polo, diving, and synchronized swimming.
FPN is based in Lisbon and Porto. It is a member of the Portuguese Olympic Committee and represents around 11,000 members.
Through this partnership with LEVERADE to use blockchain technology to award players through NFT digital trophies, FPN continues to position itself as one of the most essential and innovative entities in the world.
Regarding the agreement, António José Silva, President of the Portuguese Swimming Federation said:

About the FPN
The Portuguese Swimming Federation (FPN) is the only entity in Portugal responsible for defining the mission, values, and objectives of national swimming, in all its variants, as well as its promotion and development.
It is the association in charge of spreading and promoting the rules of swimming and represents the interests of Portuguese swimming in its whole disciplines, near the international sports organizations in which it is affiliated, assuring the competitive participation of the national selections (FINA, LEN, Comen, etc).
FPN’s mission is to promote, rule, and command on a national level the practice and teaching of swimming and other aquatics activities, always defending the foundations of sports ethics and representing Portugal at its highest level at international competitions.
FPN’s ambition is that all Portuguese have aquatic competence skills, learn and know how to swim, and do it often. A swimming country and supporting its elite swimmers will raise the national flag on the podium of main international competitions.
What is an NFT?
An NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is a digital certificate of authenticity that, thanks to blockchain technology (the technology that makes cryptocurrencies possible), is associated with a single digital file (an image, video, audio, text, or compressed file) with a unique value.
NFTs have the particularity that they cannot be replicated under any circumstances, and each of them can be traced in a completely transparent way to verify when it was created and by whom.
NFTs offers the possibility of ensuring the digital ownership of a product or service in a private, transparent, and secure manner.
A partnership toward the future of swimming in Portugal
Thanks to blockchain technology, FPN will deliver official medals in NFT format minted by the Federation, with a certificate of authenticity and ownership recorded in the blockchain forever.
Digital trophies are also a great attraction to capture the attention of the public, encourage engagement and interaction in social networks and attract media attention.
In this way, the agreement reached between FPN and LEVERADE is a significant step to demonstrate the utilities that blockchain technology has to offer to the entire sport (both federations and athletes), managing to amplify the impact of each award that is delivered.
